Palomas de Rancho Jiménez is a dedicated escaramuza team offering personal, one-on-one schooling for girls of all skill levels. Whether you've never been on a horse or you're looking to sharpen your skills, our welcoming environment is built for you.

Our team was founded with one mission: to give young girls a place where they can learn the art of escaramuza in a supportive, family-oriented setting. From the very first lesson, our riders are treated like members of the family — because that's exactly what they become.

The Sport

What Is Escaramuza Charra?

Escaramuza charra is the only all-female equestrian event in charrería — Mexico's beloved national sport. Teams of eight women ride side-saddle on horseback, performing breathtaking synchronized maneuvers at high speeds to the rhythm of traditional Mexican music.

The word 'escaramuza' means 'skirmish' — a tribute to the brave women of the Mexican Revolution, the Adelitas and Soldaderas, who rode into battle on horseback to defend their land. Today's escaramuzas carry that same spirit of courage, strength, and sisterhood into the arena.

Dressed in traditional layered dresses and sombreros inspired by the Adelita revolutionaries, these riders execute intricate crosses, spins, and formations at a full gallop — all while riding side-saddle. It's a sport that demands incredible skill, trust in your teammates, and an unbreakable bond with your horse.

Our Riders

More Than Athletes — Sisters

Our girls come from all walks of life, but they share one thing in common: a love for horses and the desire to be part of something bigger than themselves. Many of our riders start as complete beginners — some have never even touched a horse before their first class.

Through weekly training, they develop not just as riders but as young women — learning discipline, responsibility, and what it means to work as a team. The friendships formed on the team are lifelong. When you ride with someone, trust them at a gallop, and share the arena together, that bond is unbreakable.

With year-round events and competitions always on the horizon, our riders always have a goal to work toward. There's nothing quite like the feeling of riding into the arena with your team, dressed in full regalia, ready to show the world what Palomas de Rancho Jiménez is made of.
